Kids Yoga Summer Wellness Day

A 3.5 hour wellness day for children combining yoga movement classes, mindful activities, partner yoga, yoga wheel movement, mantra and mala beads, lunch and snack included. The day includes an ice breaker, a main activity, yogic stories, and finishes with certificates and a celebration ceremony. Suitable for age 6 and up depending on the child's ability. Spaces are limited to 10 children per session and booking in advance is required. A bundle package is available to attend all seven sessions across summer, or families can book individual weeks.

Summer Family Days

Drop-in art workshops at Hastings Contemporary every Thursday during the summer holidays, 11am to 4pm, with a different local artist leading each week. Activities include gelli printing, coral sculptures, wax resist waterscapes, foil printing, screenprinting and 3D wave collages. All activities are free with gallery admission, which is free for under 18s and £5 for local adults.

Art and Sports in the Park

A creative afternoon combining art and sport in Alexandra Park, part of the Arts on Prescription programme. Hastings Commons leads a relaxed arts and crafts session, followed by a friendly game of cricket with Sussex County Cricket suitable for all abilities. Includes a laid-back picnic with free soft drinks and snacks provided. Booking is essential and free.

Shrek The Musical

Pheebs SOPA Summer School

Week-long summer school for young performers aged 4 to 18, run Monday to Friday from 10am to 4pm at St Matthews Church Centre. Students take part in singing, acting, dancing and songwriting workshops led by Pheebs' School of Performing Arts instructors, building towards a final performance to showcase what they have learned. Full price is £70 per child, rising to £80 from 31 May.

Inflatable and soft play sessions in the sports hall at Summerfields Leisure Centre during the summer holidays. The hall is set up with inflatables, soft play and interactive games, divided into two age zones: a Little Giggles area for 0 to 2 year olds and a separate area for 2 to 10 year olds. Entry is £4.50 per child and parents go free, with sessions included on the Family Summer Saver pass. Parent supervision is required throughout and the sessions are for under 10s only. Booking is advised on 01424 457691, though entry on the day is possible if there is space.

Weekly Garden Explorers sessions for toddlers and carers take place each Thursday and Friday morning at Great Dixter, running 9:30–11:30 (10:00–12:00 during school holidays) with seasonal indoor and outdoor activities such as seed planting, woodland walks, cooking, minibeast hunts and messy play. Sessions run in all weathers from the education centre at Dixter Farm and must be booked in advance, with younger siblings welcome if carers can manage buggies on the woodland routes.

A weekly forest school style session in the historic ruins of Hastings Castle, aimed at Primary School age children and led by forest school trained lead Urs. Sessions bring nature, history, art and play together through social introductions, small games, tool work and learning natural skills, built around nurture, curiosity, kindness and safety. Children must be accompanied by a parent who is free to stay and supervise, and Hastings Castle remains open to the public as usual during sessions. Low wage family pricing is available.
