It's 960 years since the battle, and over 500 reenactors fight it on the same ground, with living history camps, falconry displays and a sword school for children. The headline battle is in the afternoon, and there are BSL battlefield tours with Deaf guide Peter Brown on both days. Advance tickets are £24 adult, £12 child (5 to 17) and £60 family, with higher prices on the day.

Classic cars line up on The Stade over the opening weekend of Hastings Week, from 10am to 3pm on both Saturday and Sunday. Hastings Week runs until Sun 18 Oct, with bike shows, walks, talks and the bonfire and fireworks to come.

Pick a magical path round a proper moated castle and collect spells as you go. The trail costs £3.50 and includes a small prize, on top of normal admission to the castle, which National Trust members do not pay. Parking is £5, and the last trail of the day is sold at 3.30pm.

Included with day admission, which is £14.30 for adults and children aged 4 to 16, with children 3 and under and carers free.

Four classic episodes of the 1980s cartoon on the big screen, with secret agent Danger Mouse and his sidekick Penfold taking on Baron Greenback, voiced by David Jason and Terry Scott. Presented by Martin Dickie with the Hastings TV Museum as part of the Electric Palace's TV Festival, marking 100 years of television. Rated U and around 90 minutes.

An informal drop-in for local parents-to-be to meet the people, specialists and support services around Hastings, St Leonards and Bexhill who can help through pregnancy, birth and those first weeks with a new baby. Expect mini "meet the village" chats, pregnancy and birth support, guidance for the early days with baby, the chance to meet other parents-to-be, and drinks and biscuits. No pressure, no awkward networking, just good people and useful conversations. Free, but ticketed, so booking a slot in advance is recommended.

Pick your own pumpkins at Littledown Farm in Westfield, with over 20,000 homegrown pumpkins in four varieties. The route into the fields goes through a spooky tunnel with Halloween decorations, scarecrows, tractors and a few jump scares along the way. Local food vendors are on site. Open 3pm to 9pm on weekdays and 12pm to 9pm at weekends and during half term.

An afternoon of crafts, a Duplo building challenge, singing and drama at St Ethelburga's, with a bible story and a meal shared together to finish. Messy Church is free for families with children under 12.
